Silobration 2017

October 13, 2017

Usually Friday the 13th is a day to be scared of, but not this one....we were so excited to be part of the 3rd annual Silobration at Magnolia Market here in Waco, Texas.

It started off like a normal Texas fall afternoon...you know, 90+ degrees. But the warm weather didn't stop any of the thousands of folks from pouring through the gates at Magnolia Market. Thankfully there were plenty of food trucks and other vendors there to quench the thirst of Silobration goers that had come from all corners of the country.

If you've never been to Magnolia Market you need to plan a trip. Since I have a liking to all things gardening I tend to be pulled in the direction of their amazing garden area. The Magnolia Seed & Supply out building sits inside one of the most perfectly put together gardens. Something straight out of HGTV Magazine. Perfection is often what I strive for and this garden has that and more. Perfect Tee Pees of green beans, perfect rows of cabbage, perfect placement of pumpkins, perfect kale, and a bunch more fall greens. The cedar garden beds are all lined up with pathways that lead you around them. Definitely a garden to admire and strive to recreate...but good luck because there is a whole team of gardeners that keep it looking flawless.

The Silobration 2017 was October 12-14, but we set up for only the 13th. Where did we have our Photo Booth?...in the garden of course. No sequin backdrop needed with a seed shed flanked by pumpkins. It was such a fun time!! We were able to meet so many interesting people that came from miles and miles away #milestomagnolia. One group told us they drove 20 hours to be here...WOW! It makes us very happy that we can provide the guests with something tangible that they can take with them and keep as a memory.

As day turned to night the opening band came out to play. You could feel the excitement when it was about time for Chip and Joanna to come onto the stage. Chip as his usual self hit every punch line and got the whole place laughing as he announced the Chipstarter winners. It was a touch emotional when both Chip and Joanna explained the reason for ending the HGTV hit Fixer Upper after 5 seasons. But like the great parents that we know them to be, they want to focus more on their family. It is a very humbling lesson for all of us and teaches us that family IS the most important.

The American duo Johnnyswim hit the stage and filled all of downtown Waco's Silo District with their soulful music.

We had an amazing night, thank you Chip, Jo, and all the great staff at Magnolia Market. See you next year!!
